What is it?
I created the Scholarship to honor the life & legacy of my grandfather Albert Iamelli. To me, he was always "Papa". To my grandmother (I called her Nanny) and to his friends, he was Al. Al was a football referee and baseball umpire for high school sports all over New England. He was the head referee for most football games and was very proud of that designation, which was signified by the white hat he wore in games. He used to tell my grandmother that on the field "I wear the White Hat" but she was quick to remind him that she wore the white hat at home! Al was president of both New England Football Officials and Baseball Officials. To honor him, we are funding four scholarships, each to a student-athlete. Each scholarship will have a value of $500!

This is a picture of his baseball umpire's ring that Papa left me when he passed away. It's on a shelf in my office, in a display case, so that I can see it every day and be reminded of him.
